
I have prepared, using the LaTeX typesetting language (and the poemscol style package) a parallel-text critical edition of the 1953 and 1979 versions of Robert Penn Warren’s book length poem Brother to Dragons, the most complex and anguished text about race by any white southerner, and a key literary document of the early Civil Rights era. The edition includes extensive explanatory notes, as well as a detailed introductory essay about its composition, context, and themes.
